Burial Beer Co. is excited to announce the 6th Annual Burnpile Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the soon to be opened Forestry Camp property which is home to Burial’s production facility, Burial’s sour and wild barrel house as well as Forestry Camp Bar and Restaurant. Attendees of Burnpile will be among the first to experience this 2 acre historical campus. The event begins at 12PM for VIP ticket holders and at 1PM for General Admission and Concert Goers ticket holders. Our band line up begins at 1:30PM and concludes at the end of the event at 6PM. The event is for guests who are 21 or older only.

Brother Wolf chapter projects will become independent non-profits

Over the next few weeks, Brother Wolf’s chapter projects in McDowell, Rutherford, and Dickenson counties will all become independent non-profit organizations. Brother Wolf originally began these auxiliary chapters with the intention of reducing the counties’ kill rates and ultimately developing each chapter into a self-sustaining, separate entity. After several years of growth, the chapters are ready to bring this goal to fruition.

2019 Tryon Block House Races Canceled; Races to Resume in April

The 2019 Tryon Block House Races, scheduled for October 5 and hosted by Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in conjunction with the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club (TR&HC), has been canceled due to course-development delays and will return to its traditional spring date on April 11, 2020. TIEC has made a significant investment to create a state-of-the-art steeplechase course at the Green Creek Race Course in Columbus, NC. While significant progress has been made on the course, TIEC canceled the event in the interest of horse welfare and to ensure that the track is utilized in its most ideal condition. TIEC acted in consultation with the National Steeplechase Association, which sanctions the Tryon Block House Races.

YMCA Parkinson’s Programs Provide Treatment through Exercise and Community

The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation estimates there are more than 1 million people in the United States with Parkinson’s Disease (PD), and more than 60,000 people are diagnosed each year. The main symptoms of the disease are movement related.

“It has been seven years since I’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s,” said Linda Sprouse, a participant in the YMCA of Western North Carolina’s Parkinson’s programs. “I was always active, but I listened to my doctor who said exercise, exercise, exercise was the best medicine you can take.”

Brother Wolf Saves Injured Dog Fievel From Euthanasia

At just one year old, Fievel, a shepherd mix, found himself in a place no dog wants to be. He was badly injured and scheduled to be killed at a shelter in upstate South Carolina just about an hour outside of Asheville. Thankfully, shelter staff at Brother Wolf heard about his plight and they were able to save his life in the nick of time.
