DSSOLVR Opens Doors To Public

DSSOLVR, Downtown Asheville’s newest brewery, proudly opens its doors to the public on Friday, December 13th. The taproom and production facility, located at 63 N. Lexington Ave., will host a celebration from 5-10 p.m. featuring DSSOLVR beers on draft as well as a variety of packaged products available for both retail sale and in-house consumption.

The third annual Sweet Dreams, Full Plates campaign set a new record this year – donating an incredible $59,100 dollars in September to support MANNA FoodBank’s mission. “MANNA FoodBank is overwhelmed with gratitude,” said Mary Nesbitt, Chief Development Officer. “Their incredible efforts that involved all levels of staff in area hotels will provide thousands of meals for those who did not know where their next meal was coming from.”

Catawba Brewing Co. to Introduce Twisp, a Line of Southern Hard Seltzers

Twisp, an all-natural line of southern hard seltzers inspired by popular cocktails, is entering the market on Oct. 19. Asheville will be one of only four markets to get a first taste of its launch flavors: The Mule, The Paloma and The Spritzer. Hi-Wire Brewing Expands Distribution to Alabama

Hi-Wire Brewing will be launching distribution in the entire state of Alabama beginning Tuesday, October 15 with roll-out events scheduled through October 17 in Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, & Huntsville.  Hi-Wire will be launching Alabama with their entire portfolio, including year-round, seasonal, and specialty beer offerings. Burial Beer’s Forestry Camp Opens Sept 27 2019

Burial Beer Co. is nearing completion of the largest, local restoration projects on their two-acre property in South Asheville. The historic structure, built in the early 1900’s by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), has been restored to use once again as a two-story bar and restaurant featuring an open mezzanine, roof top and outdoor areas, downstairs bar and communal hall, and full-service, seated upstairs dining room. Forestry Camp Bar & Restaurant will open its doors to the public Friday, September 27th at 5pm.

West Asheville Bookstore to Host “Banned Books Week” Book Drive

Firestorm Books & Coffee will partner with Asheville Prison Books to celebrate Banned Books Week by holding a book drive for incarcerated readers in North and South Carolina. Community members are encouraged to drop by the West Asheville co-operative on Saturday, September 28 to buy a banned or “challenged” book to donate to Asheville Prison Books. Firestorm will then match every gift with a second donated book. Between 1pm and 5pm, Prison Books volunteers will be on-hand to share additional information about their program

Sierra Nevada Fights to Protect Our Winters in Washington DC

Today, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. heads to Washington, DC to join Protect Our Winters Action Fund in a day of climate advocacy at Capitol Hill. The group will join a hearing with the Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis, as well as a congressional briefing with the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. In attendance will also be representatives from companies including Patagonia, REI, and The North Face, and athletes including snowboarder Jeremy Jones and climber Tommy Caldwell.
