 Catawba will release a special Barrel Aged Wild IPA (5.5 percent ABV) as part of their Mardi Gras celebration. This beer began its parade twelve months ago as a much tamer session IPA, before spending a year with Brettanomycees in oak barrels. After aging, the beer was dry-hopped, lending ripe tropical fruit and citrus peel flavors to the earthy farmhouse funk of a traditional wild ale, with an ever-so-subtle hint of bourbon.

Asheville Folk, a collective of local artists, makers, and entrepreneurs, opened a boutique coworking space in August 2016. The space is home to local creators and entrepreneurs you would normally find working diligently in coffee shops. Now, they are at 120 Coxe Ave, conveniently close to Vortex Donuts, Buxton Hall BBQ, multiple breweries, and on the edge of popular downtown Asheville.

During the holiday season, many families in the Western North Carolina region struggle; not only to provide basic essentials, but to create a cheerful day that other families seem to be having due to gifts and festivities. This Christmas season, we here at the Asheville Blog endeavored to provide children in need with a rich holiday experience that they could not receive on their own. The Merry Miracles program, in its second year currently, is designed to collect physical and financial donations that will later be distributed to families (that do not qualify for traditional assistance) in the form of a shop.
