Asheville Girl’s Pint Out
As a female craft beer lover I often feel, well…outnumbered. Most beer events and bars and breweries are dominated by men: male drinkers, male brewers, and male employees. It’s been a man’s world for quite some time, but thankfully in the last few years there has been a huge shift. Women consume around 30% of the craft beer on the market and there are more and more women brewers entering the scene, including quite a few in our own city. Girls Pint Out is a national non-profit organization that brings together women who love craft beer, want to learn about craft beer, or work within the craft beer industry.

Asheville Outdoor Center Hosts Sunset River Arts Festival to Benefit WNC Advocacy League
In the middle of April planning began for a series of events to be held at the Asheville Outdoor Center to benefit WNC Advocacy League. The owners and staff of Asheville Outdoor Center have a deep passion and appreciation for the local arts movement, and were hoping to find a way to celebrate and promote that. They just happened to reach out at the right moment to the founder of WNC Advocacy League who is equally passionate and motivated. Together they are bringing the area the First Annual Asheville Sunset Arts Festival to be held on June 20th, 2015, from 4pm to 10pm at the Asheville Outdoor Center, right on the river at 521 Amboy Rd. Asheville.

Asheville Startup MobRocket T-Minus 1 Day Until Launch
A local startup is gearing up to blast off May 20th, 2015. MobRocket, brainchild of David Bentley is launching out of the gate with one pursuit in mind: take down popular deals website Groupon. Since its inception in 2008, Groupon has been helping businesses reach new customers by using their deals related online platform. The premise behind the popular website is that consumers purchase a product at a significantly reduced price. The vendors pay Groupon to promote the deal, and a portion of the profits for the sale in exchange for placing the product in front of customers. The sales giant reaches businesses in over 500 worldwide markets, and is currently valued at over $1 billion dollars.

Hi-Wire Brewing Announces Plans for Birmingham, AL Location
The brewer’s first Alabama taproom, set to open in late summer, will join Hi-Wire’s roster of soon-to-be ten taprooms. With expansions underway at both its Biltmore Village Production and South Slope Specialty breweries in Asheville, two additional locations are scheduled to open this year – Charlotte, N.C., in the spring and Cincinnati near the end of 2022. Alabama marks the fourth state in which the award-winning brewery will have premises with six facilities in Hi-Wire’s home state of North Carolina along with out-of-state taprooms in Knoxville, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, and soon-to-be Cincinnati, Ohio. Hi-Wire Brewing has opened three new locations since December of 2020 in addition to expanding its distribution footprint to a ninth state, Virginia. Read More » -
