As a female craft beer lover I often feel, well…outnumbered. Most beer events and bars and breweries are dominated by men: male drinkers, male brewers, and male employees. It’s been a man’s world for quite some time, but thankfully in the last few years there has been a huge shift. Women consume around 30% of the craft beer on the market and there are more and more women brewers entering the scene, including quite a few in our own city. Women’s organizations like The Pink Boots Society and Girls Pint Out have helped to pave the way for women in beer. Girls Pint Out is a national non-profit organization that brings together women who love craft beer, want to learn about craft beer, or work within the craft beer industry.

Asheville Outdoor Center Hosts Sunset River Arts Festival to Benefit WNC Advocacy League

In the middle of April planning began for a series of events to be held at the Asheville Outdoor Center to benefit WNC Advocacy League. The owners and staff of Asheville Outdoor Center have a deep passion and appreciation for the local arts movement, and were hoping to find a way to celebrate and promote that. They just happened to reach out at the right moment to the founder of WNC Advocacy League who is equally passionate and motivated. Together they are bringing the area the First Annual Asheville Sunset Arts Festival to be held on June 20th, 2015, from 4pm to 10pm at the Asheville Outdoor Center, right on the river at 521 Amboy Rd. Asheville Startup MobRocket T-Minus 1 Day Until Launch

A local startup is gearing up to blast off May 20th, 2015. MobRocket, brainchild of David Bentley is launching out of the gate with one pursuit in mind: take down popular deals website Groupon. Since its inception in 2008,  Groupon has been helping businesses reach new customers by using their deals related online platform. The premise behind the popular website is that consumers purchase a product at a significantly reduced price. The vendors pay Groupon to promote the deal, and a portion of the profits for the sale in exchange for placing the product in front of customers. The sales giant reaches businesses in over 500 worldwide markets, and is currently valued at over $1 billion dollars.
