Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch Blood Orange IPA

blood orange ipa

Blood Orange IPA (6.5% ABV) is the latest in Catawba’s new series of fruited hoppy beers, which began with last month’s popular Pineapple IPA. Ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavors marry perfectly with the aroma and flavor notes of fresh West Coast hops. Brewed with flaked wheat in the mash, this India Pale Ale features the soft mouthfeel and juicy character associated with New England IPAs. Citrus-forward hops were selected for both the whirlpool and dry-hopping, with a final addition of over 150 lbs of real blood orange puree. The result is a citrus bomb of an IPA light in body and incredibly drinkable at only 55 IBUs.

Hi-Wire Brewing’s co-owner, Chris Frosaker, notes “It's been a while since we have been able to do any collab beers, so when we saw some openings at our production brewery, we wanted to go big. We invited NOLA, Hardywood, and Holy City because of the similarity between all of us. All four breweries are about the same size volume-wise, make very approachable year-round beers, and all have adventurous specialty programs. It was a blast making beer with three companies who approach the beer world in such a similar way as we do."

Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch Milk Stout

catawba brewing

Small Batch releases have become a weekly event at Catawba Brewing, but their new Small Batch Milk Stout is no ordinary beer. This traditional English-style sweet stout marks the return to the brewhouse of Co-Owner and former brewer, Billy Pyatt, who had taken off his brewing hat for the past five years to focus on Catawba’s rapidly expanding business. Assisting him in their Asheville South Slope brewery was brother-in-law Bobby Flowers, who chose the beer style and helped execute Billy’s recipe.
