Retro Age Opens In Asheville Mall

Asheville gains a new retro video game store as Retro Age, a small southern branch of stores, sets to open in the Asheville Mall April 1st. Retro Age is owned and operated by Val Fisher, a recent transplant to Asheville. Asheville will be the third Retro Age store to open, the others in Georgia and Florida. The store buys and sells anything video game related, with the exception of PC games.

Free Monthly Climate Change Film Series Continues March 28th @ The Collider

The Collider's monthly movie night, presented by Oskar Blues Brewery and featuring films related to climate change and the environment, continues on Tuesday, March 28, at the nonprofit innovation center in downtown Asheville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the program begins at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public (with a suggested donation). Popcorn and a selection of Oskar Blues beers will be provided.

Asheville Fringe Festival Returns January 26th 2017

The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival will return bigger and better for it's fifteenth year. With over 35 contracted artists and 18 ticketed shows, the bold festival just keeps growing and growing. The 2017 edition will feature some favorite dance/movement based artists from years’ past, including Jenni Cockrell, Lindsey Kelly Dance, Amanda Levesque and Kathy Meyers Leiner.  Puppetry fans will enjoy several shows in the line-up, including a premiere by Keith Shubert, as well as work by artists Broderick Jones, and West of Roan.

Asheville Participates In World Climate Simulation

 Asheville will be one of more than 20 cities around the world where World Climate simulations will be held this week on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, 5:30 – 8 p.m. Other locations include cities in Ghana, Ethiopia, South Korea, Argentina, UK, and Nigeria. World Climate is the award-winning “serious game” designed in Asheville by Climate Interactive, an organization with offices at The Collider.
