Unlike other coffee shops in the area, Hottie Coffee will be a drive through location, with a bright beach theme. There is one aspect of this new business that has locals wondering how it will hold up. Hottie Coffee is now hiring, and requesting that baristas be comfortable donning bikini and beach wear as a part of their everyday uniform.

How far do you have to go to get-back-to-the-land? The National Geographic Channel’s new series, “Live Free or Die,” examines a growing movement of people living in radical harmony with nature. The show profiles individuals who forage wild food, fashion clothing from animal hides, and live in shelters built of forest debris. National Geographic describes the series as an exploration of “America’s most remote subculture,” but if you live near Asheville, NC this emerging movement is not so far away.

So you're on the west side of town and you have a comic book emergency, what do you do? You don't want to drive to Tunnel road or Woodfin, and everybody knows that comic shop in Candler is only open every other Tuesday from 4:08p.m. to 4:14p.m. right? Not according to Will Hessling, the man who took over ownership of Hero Hunter Comics back in August of 2013. For almost two years now the Candler comic store has been open five days a week and most days eight hours a day, but the short hours rumor still lingers.

A new business is coming to 120 Coxe Ave on Asheville's quickly growing South Slope. Neighbor to Vortex Doughnuts, Wicked Weed, and Twin Leaf Brewery, the new BlackBerg Creative Studio offers customers something other then beer and food. BlackBerg caters to the creative types that are always on the look for new and different crafts. The brainchild of Stephanie Mergelsberg, this new spot is a hybrid of craft store, classroom space, and studio space open to anyone with a project to use.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Wicked Weed Brewing Facility in Candler

Have you heard? Wicked Weed, Asheville's booming 2 and a half year old brewery is opening yet another facility. In 2013, Wicked Weed first opened the doors to their flagship facility downtown Asheville. In October 2014, they announced the opening of their Funkitorium, home all of all things sour. This secondary location is on Coxe Ave. Recently, the quickly rising stars acquired land out in Candler, a hop and a skip from downtown. There is a building that has been sitting vacant and unfinished since 2008, nestled snuggly in what most would refer to as Candler's business district off of Sardis Road.

Katuah Market Closing March 31st

Katuah Market first opened in Biltmore Village in February of 2013. Owner John Swann is a successful businessman, having worked at Earth Fare, and started Greenlife Grocery downtown Asheville, which became so successful it was eventually acquired by Whole Foods Market. Faithful friends and customers of Greenlife were excited to have another locally owned health store open in Asheville. Sadly, Katuah Market is slated to close March 31st, 2015.
