Introducing the Asheville Bar Fly

Asheville Bar Fly

Hi sweet lovely fellow semi conscious almost always hungover kindred spirits in a rocks glass!  I am your voluptuous, rowdy, randy and almost always tipsy friend the Asheville Bar Fly!  A sparkly, glittery half drunk version of course, but not one that will be easily pigeon holed.  My persona is about as ADD as my focus on the task at hand... just know that you are loved, you are important and you will be a more informed drunk each week after our session.   The back wash of the back story begins long ago in a bar room far away.

Asheville Mall Losing More Stores

Inside Asheville Mall

The Asheville Mall, located on 3 South Tunnel Road, has been experiencing a high number of turnover in recent years. We've seen a large amount of stores come and go, and there have been plenty of rumors flying about what store is closing next. Don't worry, we already found out that Sears is not going away any time soon. Last year, Asheville Mall underwent it's biggest 'renovation' in years, where several stores relocated, and European fashion clothing store H&M moved in. While I am sure the mall anticipated this would be an impressive new draw for shoppers, it seems like other stores continue to struggle.

Happenings at Highland Brewery April 3rd – 4th

highland brewing company

It's a fairly normal week at Highland Brewing Company with The Allen Thompson Band playing at the brewery on Friday and Red Honey on Saturday. Highland will be releasing a special small batch brew on Friday, specifically created for the "Re-Happening Event" that takes place this Saturday, April 4th at Camp Rockmont. Re-Happening is an annual event put on by the Black Mountain College + Arts Center that honors the history and significance of Black Mountain College. It is known around the world and just got mentioned in the NY Times.

Information about the small batch brew known as Abstract Black IPA: Opaque and black, delicious aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, loads of citrusy hops and a hint of smoke mingle on the nose, carrying through to a balanced, bitter, roasty middle and finish. Brewed with Columbus, Amarillo and Cascade hops and dry hopped with Equinox, Horizon and Mosaic, there’s no shortage of bright citrus flavor in this beer. It’s like a simple breakfast of black coffee and grapefruit (although, we wouldn’t recommend it for breakfast). ABV - 5%
